-
Kitchen or Bath Remodeling
-
Basement or Attic Conversion
-
Main Floor Master or Mother-in-Law Suite
The best solution is not always the most expensive one. Take this kitchen remodeling project I recently designed, for example.
Cindy and Chuck moved into a small rental property they owned while they searched for their dream home. They were frustrated by the closed off kitchen and lack of space for family get-togethers, so here are the 8 simple but dramatic steps we took to vastly improve this kitchen.
- Removed the top part of the wall between the kitchen and living room, and increased the width of the existing doorway into the room.
- Reversed the location of the range and refrigerator to allow for that opening.
- Replaced the worn out dishwasher and range.
- Applied narrow trim molding to the doors to make a frame, then painted them with an antiquing glaze, adding only one new cabinet.
- Replaced the 70’s yellow counter-tops with a high-end looking but cost effective plastic laminate.
- Extended a granite snack bar into the living room to add a little splash of luxury and provide extra seating.
- Added beautiful hand-blown glass pendant lights over the snack bar.
- Continued the existing laminate flooring from the living room into the kitchen to allow the two spaces to flow as one.

By increasing the opening between the two rooms they were now able to fit their full dining room table into the space and have overflow seating at the counter for their big family dinners. The kitchen updates also meant the duplex rented for a much higher price helping them move into their dream home, which they live in now. Stay tuned for the updates on design changes we made there!
You Don’t Have to Accept an Unacceptable Space!
Because I am not affiliated with any particular cabinet manufacturer or dealer, I can locate the best prices for you from many different sources, while helping you along the way through the complicated issues of your remodeling. It can really be overwhelming if you aren’t familiar with all the ins and outs of products, and space requirements, and ergonomics, and accessibility issues, and contractors, and permits, and demolition, and on and on…
Maybe you are familiar with all those issues, but just need a hand developing your ideas into a workable plan. I can help with that, too. My fees are not based on the cost of your remodel, so there is no incentive for me to make it cost more. My goal is to get you the best solution for the best price.
I guarantee your satisfaction. If you are not 100% delighted with my designs, I will gladly refund your money, or keep designing until you are satisfied, whichever will make you happy. So call me today at 540-645-0624 to set up your free get-acquainted session and we’ll see if I can help you out. What do you have to lose?
